RARE 1920s VINTAGE BABE RUTH BAMBINO TOBACCO TIN SIGN YANKEES NEVER SEEN 1/1

  

This is an incredibly Rare and Impossible to find Babe Ruth Bailey Bros. Bambino Tobacco Tin Sign that measures approximately 8 3/4 x 13 5/8. I used a tape measure in the pictures so you can see the measurements of it. A really unusual size which they seemed to do a lot back then. I have researched this sign and found exactly nothing on it at all and I looked all over.

The Babe Ruth Bambino Tobacco Tin adds were from April 30th 1922 in the Baltimore sun and the last add for the Tin was from the Washington post April 8th 1923 so Im guessing that is around the time this was made since Bailey Bros. Tobacco company went out of business in 1923 so they couldnt of made it anytime after 1923.

This sign is Rusted to heck as you can see in all the photos I took but you can still see the outline of the bambino and all the wording and looks just incredible in person. It may be incredibly rusted but there isnt another one to be found anywhere and is likely one of the only ones to even exist and maybe the only one to exist. Ok now for the incredible story on this Babe Ruth Bambino Tobacco Tin. Babe Ruth Sued Bailey Bros. For using his name and likeness because they did not have his permission to use his image and somehow Bailey Bros.

Got out of paying him royalties for it in court. That Would obviously never happen now days but it just adds to the amazing History behind this piece. This Babe Ruth Bambino tobacco tin sign is one of the last things Bailey Bros.

Ever made since they went out of business in December 1923. Kind of funny how after they win the lawsuit from Babe Ruth they go out of business within months.

Now thats what I call The Curse if the Bambino! I took quite a few pictures of the tin so you can see its condition.

There is a residue coating over the sign to help protect it from Rusting any further. I took actual pictures of the sign and the The flash brightens up the color so I took some with and some without it so you can see in detail what it looks like. Its kind of dull at certain angles in person but man is it a beautiful one of a kind piece. This wasnt meant to survive but it did and is just a great piece of Baseball and tobacco History. You wont ever see another one of these like this again and once its gone it its gone.
